Apps Scrubsheet
Scrubsheet
Sharing a spreadsheet with a contractor, a support ticket or a test environment usually means stripping the personal data out of it first. Scrubsheet does that without the file ever leaving your computer. Drop it in, choose how each column is handled, download the result.
What it does
Scrubsheet reads an Excel, OpenDocument or CSV file, looks at the column names and a sample of the values, and suggests how each column should be treated. You confirm or change every one of those suggestions. Detection helps, but it never decides on its own.
Names, emails, phone numbers, IBANs and national ID numbers can each be replaced with a realistic fake, masked, hashed or removed entirely. A preview shows the first rows before and after, with the changed cells highlighted, so you can see exactly what you are about to share.
Your data never leaves your browser
Nothing is uploaded. The whole thing runs in the browser tab, on your own machine. There is no account, no server to send the file to, and no row limit.
That is the point of the app rather than a feature of it. A spreadsheet full of customer records is usually the thing you are least allowed to upload somewhere, which rules out most online anonymizers. Scrubsheet is built so that question never comes up.
Consistent output across files
With a project secret, the same input value always produces the same fake or hash, so two anonymized exports can still be joined on a customer ID. The secret is not stored unless you ask it to be remembered on that device, and it cannot be recovered afterwards.
Anyone holding both the secret and the original data could reproduce the mapping, so it needs to be kept private. The same is true of the optional mapping file, which lists the original value next to its replacement and therefore undoes the anonymization. Never send a mapping file alongside the anonymized file it belongs to.
Working in Excel
The Excel add-in does the same job inside a workbook you already have open, for people who would rather not move files in and out of a browser. It is on Microsoft Marketplace and processes the sheet locally, exactly as the web version does.
Pricing
The web anonymizer is free, with no row limits and no account. Current pricing for the Excel add-in is on scrubsheet.dripwork.dev, and those are the authoritative figures.
